The side that would normally be up against the wall... I'm thinking of using it as a divider in the middle of a room. Does anyone know?

Hi my sister is planning on moving out so now I have the master bedroom that was shared by my sister and I all to myself. I always wanted an apartment feel which is why we got the futon loveseats but we ended up wanting our privacy so we used the Expedit bookcases from Ikea to use as a room divider. But now that I have two bookcases and two futon couches I don't know how to organize the room. The room is 17 ft by 14 ft. Any suggestions on organization of the room or decoration to give it personality( without painting the walls) will be greatly appreciated. In my room, I have these really ugly bookcases. However, when the flooring got done in my house, the cement from the tile was scraped against them so they are stick where they are. How could I cover them? Such as room dividers, curtains? I'd really like something solid and flat to cover them with, since i want to sleep with my new bed against the wall. And if you could also post links to where I could get the supplies (IKEA would be most helpful!) it would really help! Thank you ever so much! Ps. The bookcases take up the length of the WHOLE wall. the bookcases are all along the wall i want to put my bed at, they are ugly and i am not allowed to do anything to them. i know ikea has a website, but which products could i use for this?

I'm using three tall 15" deep bookcases as a room divider, 12' wide. They will be connected together for stability, and to a wall at one end and a 12" wide and deep wooden column at the other. I would like to raise the bookcases off the floor by 6" with an overhang on the 'open' side of 3" - the bookcases will be flush to the column on the 'closed' side and so jutting out 3" on the other side. I'm looking for suggestions of the best way to raise those bookcases. I have a lot of wood about, including a couple of planks that are the right width and, when stacked, the right height, but as you can imagine with wood that long there are minor twists and inconsistencies that prevent them from being completely flat. Is there a technique to do this other than stacking the planks and drilling them down into the floor in the hope they will straighten out?! Thanks.

However, I'm not exactly sure what all I should put on the shelves for decoration! Otherwise it might just look completely bare. Books are an obvious choice, however I don't have enough to fill the whole case. Any suggestions on what to put on the shelves? Thanks!

Paint the walls beige, and I have cherry walnut colored furniture, a white computer desk, a maroon bookcase where my tv and electronics will go a a nice room divider and a burgundy carpet for the living room area. Im a 26 year old male btw. Good or drab?
